Massachusetts is on its way toward having another sales tax holiday weekend in August, when purchases on most taxable items will be exempt from the 6.25-percent sales tax. But the House last week rejected a Republican-led proposal for a meals tax holiday at the end of July. That tax, also 6.25 percent, has been pushed by the restaurant industry before.
