In less than two months, a new law will mandate that Massachusetts employers provide sick time for their workers. Under the 2014 ballot law, employers with at least 11 workers must provide up to 40 hours a year of paid sick leave. Smaller firms must provide earned sick time but are not required to pay employees for the time they're out of work. But there are other provisions spelled out in draft regulations that include: the provision of good-attendance rewards, discipline in cases of fraud or abuse, and the inclusion of temporary, part-time, seasonal employees and interns as well as employees with a break in service of less than one year, according to State House News Service.
